Waunakee bills itself as the “Only Waunakee in the World”. It’s just 5 miles north of Madison. Waunakee was recently named the second Safest City in Wisconsin in 2018 by the National Council for Home Safety and Security.
Six Mile Creek, the main waterway through the community, runs through the village on its way to one of Madison’s largest lakes, Lake Mendota. The Meadows of Six Mile Creek is an 18 hole public golf course that is challenging to say the least. Waunakee Village Park and Ripp Park tend to be the gathering spots for a lot of local events.
The mission of the Waunakee Area Chamber of Commerce is to advance the general welfare and prosperity of the Waunakee area so that its citizens and all areas of its business community shall prosper. Marshall is 20 miles east of Madison in the northeast corner of Dane County.
It has a variety of recreational amenities and parks. Including the state ranked Bird’s Ruins Disc Golf Course, Charles Langer Family Park, Whistle Stop Campground and their nature based playground and facilities at Converse Park and Firemen’s Park. The Maunesha River runs through Firemen’s Park which offers residents and tourists the ability to canoe, kayak, softball, baseball and picnicking. Just outside of town, Little Amerricka, a small amusement park features 26 rides and attractions.
The Marshall Community Library offers a wide variety of programs and services for all ages.
The Marshall Fireman’s Picnic in September offers a fish fry, car show, live music, beer tent, tractor and truck pull plus raffle. Grab a drink at the Silver Fox, burger at the Badger Bar Pub, a pizza at Rusty’s Pizza and Grill or dinner at The Barrel Inn.

Cambridge is southeast of Madison and lies in both Dane and Jefferson County. Downtown Main Street hosts many shops, boutiques and coffee shops. A beautiful backdrop for annual events and parades. The nearby countryside is filled with art studios, seasonal markets, museums, Cambridge Winery and Dancing Goat Distillery.
Lake Ripley, 420 acre lake, is great for swimming, kayaking, fishing and boating. Play tennis, volleyball, basketball, disc golf or just hanging out in the sun at Lake Ripley Park. Checkout the trails at CamRock or Glacial Drumlin. Purchase some local produce at the Farmer’s Market from June thru October or stop at Karbergs Apple Orchard for a pie or some cider.
